Police say Cristina Lagman tricked friends and well-wishers into giving her thousands of dollars in money and gifts by falsely claiming she was dying from breast cancer.

The 39-year-old Riverside County mother shared pictures on social media of her bald head and regularly posted updates on chemotherapy treatments, according to her friends.

Lagman is charged with "theft by false pretenses" in connection with the scam which, police say included a "Go Fund Me" page and a fundraiser at a local comedy club.
